Born in Mombasa in 1974, well-known Kenyan artist Jimnah Kimani has nurtured an interest in the visual arts since childhood. Upon completion of his secondary school studies, he joined the Creative Art Centre in Nairobi where he graduated with a Certificate in Fine Arts.
He thereafter embarked on painting professionally and his works have been displayed at numerous exhibitions.
Kimani’s works of art are predominantly characterized by the use of bright colors and thick strokes. They show mainly people and scenes of daily life, as the artist draws his inspiration from life itself.
In 2000, Kimani was declared “The Most Promising Young Artist” in Nairobi’s art scene.
A substantial number of his paintings are in the hands of private collectors and lovers of contemporary African art.
Some of his works are currently shown in the exhibition "Kenya Art" at the FIVE MYLES gallery in New York.
